It's difficult to deal with a narcissicist. Most take the easy path and feed Trumps ego to keep peace. Here that would not work so Newsom is triggering Trump to expose the weaknesses for all to see. The emperor has no clothes.

Or he does his famous TACO and does not announce his TACO on fox news so the rubes never hear about his 180. Thats what he does when he told the rubes one thing and the elites that bankroll him the other thing. But on fox news one would never know the game he plays.

Most of what Trump tells you he is doing is illegal. He makes a proclamation on Fox news and the rubes think it is a done deal. Then he has to drop it when he loses in court.

Sad to say that these days anyone saying "he" is referring with outrage to a single individual. Find some meaningful contribution to the resistance that fits with your circumstances. It can be protests, divesting, personal austerity or skip the vaycay to a red state. NOW is the time to something.

If you say deficits are a dire threat to the country but raising taxes is somehow off limits, then you do not actually think deficits are a dire problem.
