Should Europe, the USA and China build their own software, on their own?

Big fat NO!

Promoting #DigitalSovereignty does not mean hiding behind national borders! #OpenSource is a global movement, collaboration working together for the future.

It should stay that way.

If Open Source Stops Being Global, It Stops Being Open - FOSS Force
Europe wants to buy European, America wants to deregulate the world, China hacks the commons. But code knows no borders... unless we let it.

Austria's armed forces moved to LibreOffice for the right reasons:
"We are not doing this to save money" but
"so that the Armed Forces (...) can continue to (...) work"

You don't save money with open source. You gain agency and control.

Also thanks to all other contributors in your repo, the discussions are super informative!

Saw a Dutch TV item about the concept of "enshittification" from Cory Doctorow (follow his writing on

Triggered me to think of an interesting article by Paul Krugman (on his substack) where he generalized the concept to all business. 👇

Don't forget: all complex software has #security issues. Even if it's written by a huge tech giant. #OpenSource has, on average, less security holes. But for the most critical data, keeping it on-premises behind your firewall and perhaps even fully air gapped is the way to go.
