If the point of having a society *isn't* to care for each other, to ease suffering and realize each life's potential, literally what is the point? To hoard wealth? To build empires on other people's throats? Life is brief, nothing lasts. Wealth and empires are pointless violence.

guess I'm built different, every time I'm out trying to see night sky stuff I frequently think about how much light pollution is entirely preventable with just a tiny bit of regulation

The proposal would effectively recriminalize a wide range of hemp-derived products by capping total THC content at just 0.4 milligrams per product, a threshold that would outlaw most items currently sold in gas stations, convenience stores, and online marketplaces.
The U.S. Senate has advanced a spending package to end the government shutdown, by a vote of 60 to 40. Included in the legislation is a nationwide ban on hemp products that contain above 0.4mg THC.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Thinking about how my whole childhood in the US I was told socialism inevitably led to mass death, secret police, voter suppression, food and supply shortages, massive lines, antisemitism, disease, lack of health care, job loss, oppression, etc. But wouldn't you know it

I can be friends with someone…. Not talk for a year and pick up right where we left off. Friendships just kinda ‘are’.
