I just voted NO on the bill that fails to prevent the looming health care crisis and fails to rein in Trump’s lawless actions, but I won’t give up — and I urge the American people to stay in the fight despite this disappointing outcome.

Corollary to this is: the ultimate weakness of all the trauma-burdened MAGA guys is that they will have nothing compelling left to say when emotionally well-adjusted Democrats acknowledge their failures and chart a new course - MAGA is incapable of the same
Increasingly clear that Dems accepted Biden as the way out in 2020 primarily because of the false belief Trumpism was a blip to be weathered like a storm - now, Dem elites/insiders starting to understand it’s a persistent alternative to Democratic failure to innovate or be bold

Re: this and the optics of demolishing the White House, I think it is fair to say that Trumpist political forces can’t help but self-sabotage at some point because 1) their whole thing is to break taboos and 2) the fix is never quite enough
lol, great, so we're now subsidizing Argentine ranchers at the expense of American ranchers. Seems politically sustainable, no questions from me.

The optics of Trump building a ballroom that 99.9% of Americans will never set foot in while millions line up for food banks are worth more than any policy paper or economic proposal. This image is a visceral punch in the mouth that needs no words. It should haunt the GOP for a generation.

Demolishing the Trump ballroom and restoring the East Wing will be symbolic. But symbolism matters to authoritarians.”

Still thinking about this
EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

Taking my own advice to not be afraid of cringe, I think there’s something interesting about how Trump’s counter to millions of people marching in the streets against him was … AI generated videos. Images, stripped of humanity, isolated from and even hostile to the outside world

Hero’s of the day - In a small town of Beckley, WV, Kendra Sullivan staged a one-woman No Kings protest. She was confronted, had the police called on her, but stood her ground. She was physically threatened. Police came more than once and protected her right to protest. This is how we do it.

Hot take: I’m not sure there’s a limit to how long the Republicans will endure the shutdown. They’re steeped in decades of conspiracy theory and anti-government messaging. The difference we’re seeing is Democrats starting to play hardball (for once). Honestly don’t know how long it will last.

It's really important for Americans to understand right now that dismantling democracy isn't a thing that you wave a magic wand and make happen. It's a process. It's a fight.

It's a fight you choose when you're worried about losing, and it's a fight you're not guaranteed to win.

A sort of side quest I’ve got is for the American public, in perpetuity, to word-associate “Vance” with “Hitler”
Vice President JD Vance scoffed off the story, saying that “I refuse to join the pearl clutching.” Look man, it's really okay to condemn literal Nazi rhetoric!

Today, Trump's trying to make us comfortable with masked agents on the streets.

Tomorrow, Trump's looking to leverage this power, take advantage of our elections, and scare voters away.

We must call this what it is: a power grab that echoes the rise of authoritarian regimes.

These are the same guys that wither when people call them fascists or authoritarians. But *this* is the kind of inflammatory rhetoric that risks causing political violence
Johnson: "We call it the Hate America Rally that will happen Saturday. Let's see who shows up for that. I bet you you'll see Hamas supporters, I bet you'll see antifa types, I bet you'll see Marxists on full display, people who don't want to stand and defend the foundational truths of this republic"
