I only realised this week, sitting in a half empty #LCFC stadium where the official attendance was 27,000, that this is a thing...
West Ham fan turnout against Nottingham Forest almost half official attendance
West Ham’s official attendance of 62,429 for their 2-1 by Nottingham Forest was almost twice as high as the number of fans who went through the turnstiles

One of the weirdest things I do is imagine a mental life of my inanimate possessions, e.g. a pair of snow boots that has been untouched in the garage for years. Did *anybody* do this before Toy Story? Pixar has a lot to answer for...

I'm aware I'm always asking you to write stuff, but how about a piece on this book / others you have found influential / an annotated photo of your bookshelf?

Defrosting car windscreens: surely if you just fill the kettle with fairly warm water from the tap, it has the desired effect, everyone on the street still thinks you're a dangerous maverick, and there's in reality little chance of shattering the glass?

Have finally got my hands on a copy of this (no thanks to Royal Mail!). I'm biased because it has my Sweetest Ache review in it, but it's well worth buying!
Thanks to popular demand and a surprising amount of genuine distress at having missed a copy, I’ve just put 50 more copies of issue 3 of IN THE APRIL SUN on sale here!

Day three #SqueakSquadron still going strong

A poor effort for #SqueakSquadron today. Eggless due to my boys currently consuming about 24 eggs a day.

One repost, one like... but now it closes the Adam and Joe Christmas podcast. True art finds a way.
"Your punchline about a Liam Neeson sequel where he rescues his daughter from a convent was way too contrived, as is often the way with your jokes: no offence."

This has absolutely exploded just in the last month or so. Sick to death already of people seeing nothing wrong with routine use of AI, sometimes even when it's pointed out to them that their piece is riddled with AI hallucinations.
Academics and technologists are sounding the alarm about a growing crisis in scholarship as we know it: AI-generated citations of nonexistent papers that have infested real journals. Despite being fake, the sources are widely assumed to be authentic the more they appear in published literature.
AI Is Inventing Academic Papers That Don't Exist -- And They're Being Cited in Real Journals
Academic articles from authors using large language model are creating an ecosystem of fake research that threatens human knowledge itself.
