@grange.outwood.com Can you confirm if year 11's are expected to attend on the 3rd June if they don't have an exam that day? If they are, I assume you will be running a relevant & full day for them? If not, I assume you advise they should not attend & use the time to revise at home?

I think it is time to publish a plan to fully exit X & move to Bluesky. I was thinking, ideally, you would see out this academic year & only used Bluesky from September but I think you should maybe move over by April & the start of summer-term now? @ogacademy.bsky.social

Year 10 enjoyed a spectacular afternoon watching A Christmas Carol! 🎭✨ From Scrooge's transformation to the holiday spirit, it was a performance that brought the classic tale to life.

Do you think this editorial cartoon will be seen even more now, after the Washington Post tried to make sure it wasn’t seen?

Gee, I wonder. #StreisandEffect
“As an editorial cartoonist, my job is to hold powerful people and institutions accountable. For the first time, my editor prevented me from doing that job. So I have decided to leave the Washington Post”

This is interesting because the #OpSnap team at @westyorkspolice.bsky.social (not sure if this address is an official one) are very good when it comes to dealing with cyclists footage. This appears to be about a regular beat Bobby maybe having a bit of #mototnormativity going on? @bikery.bsky.social

First little Bluesky 🧵. I generally support Idaho stop laws, but introducing them in the UK isn't likely to happen IMO. However, there is a double standard with pedestrians as we don't have jaywalking laws either. Crossing on the 'red man' if clear & safe is seen as totally sociably acceptable. 1/x

Useful to remember as BlueSky grows. Accept alternative views. Don’t accept intolerance, or those who feel their opinions are worth more weight than those which are actually evidenced.
All this discussion of echo chambers and having to “disagree well” *cough* and you’ve gone and made me tap the sign already.

Wonderful piece from @sarahmanavis.bsky.social on the @newstatesman.com about the rise of pronatalism & of course the leader of the movement, the reason, in whole or part, why many of have left that place for this place. www.newstatesman.com/comment/2024...
The disturbing rise of tech-bro pronatalism
A growing group of Silicon Valley figures are agitating for people to have more children – as a solution to economic and social problems.

Cars in the U.K are up to 55% larger today than they were in the 1970s and there are twice the number of cars on the U.K's roads as there were 30 years ago, but the media are still running articles claiming that a handful of cycle lanes and LTNs 'cause congestion' in London...🙄

One thing everyone can do immediately is to not undermine the trauma of road crashes by euphemistically calling them “accidents”.

Accident implies inevitability and downplays the human error or negligence often involved.

'Daddy's dead': How victims of road accidents are being forgotten and failed
Last year, 1,695 people died on Britain's roads and a further 28,967 were seriously injured - it's a figure that has barely reduced in the last five years. And behind each number, is a grieving family...

So, do we have a starter pack for #UK #cycling #cyclingactivists #activetravel @road.cc @cyclinguk.bsky.social yet? If we don't, then should I start one?
