Deep Purple arrive in Montreux, Switzerland to record their Machine Head album at the Montreux Casino. It doesn't go as planned: The casino burns down the next day and they end up recording in a hotel using the Rolling Stones' mobile unit.

The album topped the charts in several countries, including the UK. The album brought us the iconic "Smoke On The Water" with its world famous riff. The lyrics of the song were inspired by the Montreux Casino fire during a Frank Zappa gig in 1971.
