Mostly dumb movie stuff, some dumb TV stuff too

One great thing about watching a movie on a disc is that I can sit with the movie as the credits roll without worrying about getting yanked out by an attempt to upsell me another movie

This really is how it feels to like literally anything with even a modicum of popularity nowadays.

US Olympic Curling Team member speaks out against ICE:

"I'm proud to represent Team USA. But we'd be remiss if we didn't mention what's going on in Minnesota and what a tough time it's been. What's happening is wrong. There's no shades of gray."

Looking at Google Trends, Disclosure Day easily had the biggest post-ad spike of any movie tonight, followed by Scream 7 and then Cliff Booth (the latter is especially impressive since the ad didn't even have the title of the movie).

I will give Netflix this, they know the impact of a Super Bowl spot that hasn't been spoiled to hell and back.

Savvy of the Disclosure Day Super Bowl spot to open with the line "there has been a threat to publicly release government material long shrouded in secrecy..."

The amazing audience scores for Melania don't seem to be translating much to actual word-of-mouth, judging from the -67% second weekend drop.
Amazon MGM Studios' Melania grossed an estimated $2.38M this weekend (from 2,003 locations). Estimated total domestic gross stands at $13.35M.

Went to rewatch the “Manchild” number from The Muppet Show and ended up just rewatching the whole episode. Not even a big Muppets guy but it’s an incredibly fun 33 minutes of television. I also appreciated the modesty of the laugh track.

Was brainstorming what other celebrities could guest star on the new Muppet Show, and I think a Martin Scorsese guest appearance could be a load of fun. From his TikToks and The Studio episode all the way back to that AmEx commercial and Shark, he clearly has fun getting a little silly now and then.

That J.D. interview clip where he’s asked about Alex Pretti’s family is the closest I’ve come to chucking my phone across the room out of rage in a long time. Just a smug ass little ghoul.

Crazy that The Washington Post receiving a fawning historical drama from Steven Spielberg about how it held the president accountable for his actions is something that happened barely eight years ago

Jeff Bezos destroyed the Washington Post because he couldn't admit that he didn't know how to run a newspaper, and also because he felt entitled to turn it into his personal plaything. Both are functions of his ego, his greed, his heedlessness, and his insecurity. What a dark day.

If a studio comedy auteur with longtime budget issues is trying to get their first movie in over a decade off the ground you better believe Emma Mackey will be there to help.
Nancy Meyers is directing a new rom-com that releases on December 25, 2027.

• Starring Jude Law, Emma Mackey, Penélope Cruz, Kieran Culkin & Owen Wilson

• Follows a director and a producer who fell in love, made successful films together, broke up & are forced back together
