The centrists in the Senate Democratic caucus saw that the country was rallying to the party in the 2025 elections and resolved that they would do anything they could to kill that momentum.

Huh. Uh... sure.

Of course, without his contributions political polarization, shifting wealth away from the middle and working classes, and emboldening a GOP theory unitary executive power, perhaps he wouldn't have had to be "courageous and clear.

MF'er paved the goddamn road for Trump.
"At a time when many lost their voice, he was courageous and clear in his denunciation of the man and the movement that now threatens the well-being and future of the nation he loved." @billkristolbulwark.bsky.social on Dick Cheney: www.thebulwark.com/p/trump-is-r...

As a NYC voter (n of 1, but I’m hardly alone) I can say that if voting for someone will chagrin Trump, that’s a plus.

If Trump does decide to punish NYC, I’ll just say I don’t think he’s prepared for the NY’er tendency to rally in common cause when confronted with external threats
In the 1st question of his brief interview with Mamdani. Anderson Cooper reports Trump’s strongman threats to punish NYC if the Mayoral candidate is elected, as if he gets to select where funding goes according to his whims, & then asks whether voters will find it “worth the hassle” to vote for him.

Follow up call with an EP where I started to realize they're actually pitching us...

Lots to think about.

Not selected for Film Independent Fast Track. Not surprised, exactly—they're looking for projects that are a little more packaged, which makes sense, but ngl, am a bit disappointed.

That said, we've been having some pretty interesting meetings of late...

Onward!

You should do something nice for someone tomorrow.

Don’t post about it. Don’t share it.

Just do something nice for someone.

There's gotta be a hilarious movie in here somehow.

"Pirro's Gotta Have It"

Logline: Drunk and delusional ideologue returns to her roots as a prosecutor after the safety of fringe TV commentating, only to discover the harsh reality of a still fact-based grand jury system.

Anchorman v The Verdict
Jeanine Pirro’s office tried three times to indict a woman on bogus felony charges of assaulting an ICE agent. A DC grand jury turned her down each time. So Pirro brought a misdemeanor charge instead. And now a trial jury has acquitted her of that. www.huffpost.com/entry/sidney...
Jeanine Pirro Strikes Out Yet Again In Federal Court
Prosecutor Jeanine Pirro failed to secure a felony indictment against the woman three times, then lost a jury trial on a misdemeanor charge. Ouch.

Alex, I'll take "Things that will bite Gavin Newsom in the face in the primary" for $200.
CA governor Gavin Newsom vetoed both of the major AI bills on his desk that Silicon Valley meaningfully opposed—one making it illegal for bosses to use AI to fire workers with no oversight, one requiring chatbot sellers to ensure their products do not harm children before marketing to them.
Silicon Valley's capture of our political institutions is all but complete
The tech lobby kills off two key California AI bills, and why it matters. Plus: How Sam Altman played Hollywood with Sora 2, organized mass social media deletions, and more.

My producing partner and I have been doing a bunch of meetings over the past few months. Pitches/generals etc. Something I'm noticing is when we're relaxed and a little vulnerable, folks have been leaning in, and when we're formal/tight, they don't as much.

Thought that was interesting... YMMV

I keep thinking about photos of collaborators after the war. People don't forget some things easy... Before this is all said and done, there will be a reckoning.
Also: if you work for ICE, even if you’re not one of the ones arresting citizens or tackling 15-year-olds or zip-tying kids together and segregating them by race, you’re part of the mechanism making it happen, and you should suffer long-term social and post-regime-change consequences.
Some weirdo on Twitter has been absolutely melting down for like 36 straight hours because I posted:

When this is over, do not forget what ICE did, and what ICE is. And do not make room for them in society. Make sure they know that they are, and will continue to be, reviled and beneath contempt.
October 12, 2025 at 4:01 AM
This is so fucking insane.

If you wrote this in a movie/TV show you'd get notes back that the crash has to be at least partly her fault or else the ICE goons are just too cartoonishly villainous to be believable.
ICE GOONS crash into car and then point weapons to kidnap man.

Werner Herzog has slammed the use of AI in new cinematic releases, saying that films that make use of the technology “look completely dead.”

“There are stories, but they have no soul. They are empty and soulless.”

Amen to that!
