Catholic, lefty and getting more radical with every passing year.
Charlton fan since 1958. I try to be an optimist about football and the wider world but it's very tough with things in their present state.

He said the UK should be “at the heart of Europe” and that returning to the bloc would be “in the best interests of a generation of young British people”.

You might expect that one of the world's biggest media organisations admitting to illegal practices in accessing private information about a member of the royal family and a government minister would be front page news across the board, but apparently not.

Very powerful piece.
NEW: Andrew Norfolk broke the grooming gang story, 15 years ago. His exclusive interview on today’s News Agents
is deeply powerful, not least for his anger about those political figures now exploiting it and the victims for their own purposes.

The real "difficult conversations" Kemi Badenoch should be having about Elon Musk.

Why the Conservative leader's refusal to distance herself from Elon Musk is an act of moral cowardice that should exclude her from ever regaining high office.

I've never understood the ideological objection to universal health care. Barbarous, especially as it's easily affordable for the US.
70% of the world’s population has universal healthcare, but not the US

We are the only highly developed nation without it

Our healthcare is twice as expensive as the average wealthy nation

US ranks last among industrial nations for deaths that could be prevented with timely access to healthcare

It’s all just a big game to them.

After campaigning passionately to regain ‘sovereignty’ from our European neighbours, the Telegraph now seems happy to platform those wanting to cede it to the US

Do you know how much CEO pay has skyrocketed since 1978?

100%? 500%?

Try 1,085%

Meanwhile, the $7.25/hr fed. minimum wage hasn't budged in 15 years and the tipped min. wage has been $2.13/hr since 1991.

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.
CEO Pay Has Risen 1,085% Since 1978, But for Workers? Just 24% | Common Dreams
CEOs at top US companies saw their pay skyrocket by 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay only increased by 24%
