Finalizing my slides for #ASHG25 while on my flight to Boston in true PI fashion. Come check out the finished product tomorrow morning at 10:45am in the excitingly named "Seq-ing Function with Single Cells and CRISPR Perturbations" session! 🙂

Making my slides for #ASHG25 and getting excited to see folks in Boston! Will *try* to be active on Bluesky during the meeting...

An exciting new study that explores and compares target gene identification from two orthogonal methods: CRISPRi screening and eQTLs! Led by the incredible Sam Ghatan, who started working with us on this as a visiting PhD student, and is now a postdoc presenting it at Biology of Genomes on Friday! 📈
Our new contribution to the quest to find causal GWAS genes! Sam Ghatan from my lab at @nygenome.org led a systematic comparison of eQTLs and CRISPRi+scRNA-seq screens. TL;DR: they provide highly complementary insights, with ortogonal pros and cons. 🧵👇

The lab officially turned 1 today and not only did our brilliant MSc student @hannahpitas.bsky.social make ube cookies for everyone, but she won the CIHR CGS-M! This prestigious award will support her CRISPR base and prime editing projects in the lab. We are so proud of and excited for her! 🥳

It's been one year since I began my faculty position and in many ways it's been absolutely incredible. The ups and downs of academia are rewarding in their own ways. My students and research associates are amazing. But how do you keep motivated in the face of overwhelming despair? 1/3

Our lab continues to grow! We have just recruited three talented graduate students to expand our efforts in studying the noncoding genome 🧐 Please give a warm welcome to Mike, Hannah (@hannahpitas.bsky.social), and Javad! 🥳 morris-lab.org/team

It feels like there's been a surge to Bluesky! I will try to be better about posting here instead of the dark other place.
