Just so everyone is clear, the main issue in the Supreme Court voting rights case tomorrow is whether it's racist against white people to enforce the Voting Rights Act.

I'm dead serious. We live in incredibly stupid times.

Just published an annual review of a field we're calling "The Political Economy of Policing." It highlights great work on the links between police and society's major political/economic institutions. Thanks to my great coauthors Lauren Hagani and Gabe Rojas.

Today marks the 11th year since Flint officially had its water source switched to the Flint River. Last year, Keishaun Wade, a Flint resident who works with my lab, wrote about how the Flint Water Crisis was not over. The essay is just as relevant now. theemancipator.org/2024/04/25/t...
The Flint water crisis is not over, ten years later
What happened in Flint wasn’t an accident. The media circus is gone, but the injustices that caused the water crisis are still in place.

Also, the folks pushing for these changes are ghouls

The contemporary GOP platform is segregationists, and they hope to repeal the entire legacy of the Civil Rights Movement.
Republican Charles Cunningham who is Black just said that the courts were wrong in Brown v Board, the landmark decision to desegregate schools. This is what he said in defense of school vouchers. The bill author did not say anything to disagree.
