A #painting I did some years ago. "Mayo Cloud" came out of a time I was cycling in the north of the western Irish county. It was the afternoon, so naturally the sky was very dark. And the sun shone brilliantly in moments where it was allowed as I weaved happily through rain and sun. #art #SpeirGhorm
Square canvas in acrylic. Against a dark blue painterly sky that occupies just over half of the painting, a white and grey fluffy cloud reaches from the top left corner across the top and starts downward at the right culminating in what is almost like two or three fingers pointing down close to the right edge. The bottom third of the painting has a dark green and brown hill sloping down from right to the bottom left corner, with the gables of 3 white cottages visible on the edge of the slope and little pale chimneys sticking up from their pale grey roofs. Beyond in the distance is a very dark blue ridge of a mountain with in front of it closer to the houses a sliver of flat land lit up in golden orange arcing very gently from the left edge to behind two of the three cottages.
