As a longtime former resident of downtown Toronto I am here to say this is a valuable service, because civilians can't stand for hours on end drinking coffee with their heads down surfing the web on their phones while waiting for the lunch truck to arrive like highly-trained law enforcement can.

Carney's military build up in Canada isn't unique at all. In Europe, other 'middle powers,' as he likes to call them, are taking the same approach. The logic of militarization points to #conscription and we need to challenge this decisively.
