"If you come up the path through time’s protensity you’ll find me in this yellow November, a muddle of sun beside me on the ground. I’ll be lost in thought, unhappy with the common

Get ready for this issue of @victorianpoetry.bsky.social — it’s coming soon and it’s fantastic. Featuring this incredible work by @rcolesworthy.bsky.social as well as equally extraordinary essays by @lerikscline.bsky.social @carolinelevine.bsky.social and Ruth McAdams.
Lucky for all of you I just won't shut up about this stuff so I actually wrote over 10K words about it that should be coming out next year. I wish I were kidding but I'm not. (Hi, @devingarofalo.bsky.social!!)

It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly. I just spent the last 2 months working on my next column
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

"Kim suggests that in defining the contours of the other in relation to the self, Orientalism serves as a fundamental technology of whiteness that shapes the structural core of Romantic lyric poetry." Grateful for this review of my work by Oishani Sengupta! DM me for a copy: bit.ly/4hO8syW

Excited to announce that my first book, Romanticism and the Poetics of Orientation, has been shortlisted for the Wordsworth Circle's Marilyn Gaull Book Award! I met Marilyn the year before she died, and she gifted me a wagon full of books which I still own and treasure.

Hey we don't say this enough...

Mamdani is Asian American.

If elected, he'll be the first Asian American mayor of New York City...

...and NYC will be the biggest city in the US to ever have had an Asian American mayor.

Representation isn't liberation. But sure is something, in this case!

Enormous news for US literature. A new, Mellon-led, $50 million fund for nonprofit literary orgs and publishers. Closest thing we've ever had to it was Mellon and Wallace in 1991, which, in today's dollars, was still less than half this. Open call begins Nov 10. literaryartsfund.org/about/
