Hi, it's me, EarthQuake from Polycount. I'm a 3D artist and I do product design at Marmoset. I know things about normal maps. My special interests are cameras, woodworking, and moss.

Hello my name is Earl and I like to knurl. I'm also into burl.
Then moving onto the knurling! This is the really fun part. I used to hate modeling knurling, and static alphas were too limiting. Here, I used a simple line with a bevel and tapered ends, and set the radial count to control size. It’s both fun AND you have so much control.

I'm attempting to make some knives entirely out of wood. I'm using super hard, tight-grained wood as an experiment to see how sharp of an edge I can get. Of course, it won't stay sharp like metal but it should be a fun experiment. The first set will be Japanese style with separate handles.

If you are a #3D #GameArtist and are trying to De-Adobe your life or looking for that sweet Painter replacement, you can try out Toolbag 5!

I wrote a Blog style tutorial on how to start getting into texturing in Toolbag4 (works for 5 too!).

It even comes with a free rock to follow along with!

In addition to nerding out about Japanese tools sometimes I make stuff. Here's a coffee table set with adjustable height side tables that tuck in for storage. Made for @noodleverse.bsky.social

Does here anyone like tool restoration? Here are some Japanese chisels forged by 助丸 - Sukemaru the 3rd, Yoshiro Kinzaburo. These are damekiri style, popular in Hokkaido. At ~280mm they’re a little smaller than tataki atsu or framing/firmer chisels and bigger than oire nomis (standard bench chisels).

I found this lichen
Tiny Hippo loves a lichen, he swears he doesn't eat them, ever.

The stray cat will plop down and eat the cat food for a solid half hour. The fox? The fox has ADHD and will snack for at most two minutes.
