My name is Joe Molloy. I lost my housing in the summer of 2024, now I’m running for Mayor to confront this crisis head-on. The systems meant to help us are failing, but we have the power to fix them. https://linktr.ee/joemolloyformayor
Registered Seattle voters are able to help Joe qualify for the Democracy Voucher Program. This program allows candidates to have access to public funds based on the amount of vouchers sent in in their name.

I never expected to be homeless. I grew up in a working-class family from Downriver Detroit that, like many, struggled to make ends meet. My parents didn’t love their jobs, but they worked hard because they had to. www.joemolloyformayor.com/meet-joe

As put by Tent City 3 resident Joe Molloy, “We don’t lack the willpower, intelligence, love or heart. We just lack the money.”

It didn’t have to be this way. For several decades scientists and policymakers have understood that greater urban density is essential to reducing climate pollution, protecting forests and salmon runs...
Op-Ed: To Save Trees and Orcas Build More Homes in Seattle - The Urbanist
# Cars and sprawl that are the true problem as the Puget Sound region seeks to boost salmon runs and protect salmon-eating orca whales. Building more homes in Seattle is the way to curb sprawl.

But that’s the trouble with the Abundance Discourse: It writes America’s central scarcity problem — corporate power — out of the economic story, encourages Democrats to focus on the wrong solutions, and elevates narratives already being weaponized by the right.
“Abundance” Is How Dems Lose To Trump
Ezra Klein’s new book is supercharging elites’ campaign to deter Democrats from challenging billionaires and corporate power.

“SB 5156 was intended to expand the number of accessible units, which often end up being constructed only on the ground floor of many buildings.”
A housing bill clearing the way for more accessible buildings and lower building costs via elevator reform jolted to a sudden stop this week at the Washington State Legislature.

Joe may not be a traditional candidate. They are honest, direct, and come from a humble background. But maybe that’s exactly what Seattle needs. A leader who actually represents the people. The Average Joe may just be the best candidate for the job.
