Shirley is staying inside to watch the snow after experiencing it outside for the first time, leaving it to her brother Warren to lose his tiny mind and run around the garden screaming.

Went to Christmas At Kew tonight and it was amazing, more beautiful than photos can convey, plus fake snow in the freezing cold, festive tunes, hot mulled rum cider and David finally got the throne he deserves.

Did porchetta for Birthmas dinner and OMFG was it good. Currently comatose from food.

It’s my birthmas and I have been very spoiled.

Iggy is such a gorgeous boy. Unfortunately, it looks like our nextdoor neighbour is allergic to him, but is trying everything he can to keep him. Fingers crossed....
preparing Warren and Shirley's breakfast and look who showed up 😸

Warren just came in with an enormous bone in his mouth and dropped it at my feet. This is the second bone, and he’s also brought in a kid’s bath toy. Good boy, dogcat.

These two are so cute. Just caught a purring Warren making biscuits on Shirley. Of course, they’re fighting now #caturday

Spotted today in Hackney. Haven’t we all…

One more stray off the streets and neutered, chipped and vaccinated in time for Christmas. This morning, we managed to get Iggy in a carrier (not easy) and took him to the vets for his op. He’ll recuperate in next door’s outdoor office which has been repurposed as a cat cabin. We done a good thing!

I’ve had a really, really crap few days and fancied some comfort food. Not up to my Yorkshire nan’s standards, but by ‘eck, with a bit of caramelised red onion gravy and greens, this rocked.

Got told earlier today that as of next week, I'm losing a regular gig I've had for almost nine years. Gutted. Going to have to start sending the cats up chimneys. Seriously though, if anyone needs anything writing or my media-savvy chops in any way, hit me up.

Shirley’s seeing snow for the first time, from the comfort of indoors above a blazing hot radiator. Sensible Shirley.
November 19, 2025 at 8:49 AM
First steps outside. I don’t know who was more nervous, Warren & Shirley or us. They weren’t out long as they properly freaked out, but of course, Warren is now shouting to go back out…

Warren speaking for us all about the state of the world this morning.

Keeping everything crossed that Big Ginge is going to move in next door! This would be the perfect storyline...
we've been giving big ginger a bowl of kibble every now and then, Ozzy's owner got him an outdoor cabin and has been giving him feeds as well, and now our neighbour messaged us asking if he was ours as he was staring them out through their double glazed door and it looks like they might take him on!

Might have to buy this...
There’s not a day goes past that I don’t miss Tony Bourdain, great man, great friend, great writer. Nothing can make up for the loss of him, of course, but it’s wonderful to hear his voice live from the page in the compellingly brilliant Anthony Bourdain Reader edited by Kim Witherspoon.

Shirley on safari (it’s by the kitchen window, we’ve given up trying to keep them off the counters)

Warren (l) and Shirley (r) really do love each other, it’s so cute to see. Her permanently worried (or is it judgemental?) expression kills me.

Stripy, spotty sibling serenity (not right now though, they're shrieking the flat down and tearing up the sofa).

Fascinating little tour of my neighbourhood, including the tremendous Tin Tabernacle, Orwell and my local pub, HG Wells, AA Milne, Highlander, the Kilburn State - and our flat even features in the background at one point: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkGU...
