Today the Church of England remembers Theodore of Tarsus, second Archbishop of Canterbury, who had never set foot in these isles before being appointed, and who had to learn the local tongue on the journey here.
There would be no British Christianity without immigrants.

While the mainstream discussions are depressingly about *how* best to remove and stop immigrants, it’s a revolutionary act nowadays to say that immigration is actually a positive thing and an essential component of a thriving country, so please join me in doing so!

The Church of England runs on the strength of its volunteers. Without local people giving up their holidays to work with the children of the parish, Youth Group Camp wouldn’t be possible. These are the people who give up their time every week to change people’s lives.

Wonderful afternoon #TaizeNorth25 while our young people asked Br Jean-Patrick loads of brilliant questions including “How do you connect with God?” and “Have you ever fallen asleep in church?” @leeds.anglican.org@dioceseofyork.bsky.social

We have arrived at #TaizeNorth25 and we’re looking forward to leading the music for @archbishopofyork.org this afternoon. We felt a spot of rain during rehearsal this morning 😁

One of the best things about Taizè is the amazing light. And it really put on a show for our eucharist with Archbishop Stephen Diocese of York Diocese of Leeds, Church of England #TaizeNorth25

The first Beatitude is the doorway to the rest. We need a poverty of spirit - a yearning for trust and hope and courage to ask for help in order to be fully human. #TaizeNorth25

Poverty of spirit is a huge challenge for today’s world. We have lost our sense of mutual dependence and our need of others. Material poverty must be addressed but it must be addressed holistically and address the lack of hope. #TaizeNorth25

When the Beatitudes talk about “happy” and “blessed” the Greek from which it is translated is … difficult to translate in a multilingual space but is an encouragement to go forward in hope. It means an incomprehensible and deep happiness #TaizeNorth25.

The Beatitudes are the proclamation which defines the Kingdom of God. They are for all humanity not just a group of followers. They are the Magna Carta of the Kingdom, its founding principles and universal laws. #TaizeNorth25

The topic for this years bible studies is hope. Br. Pedro asks Can we look with the eyes of love on this world or do we just give up and despair? Where do we find good? #taizenorth25

The fabulous husbeast is primary caregiver and wrangler of all things domestic chez BM, has been for years, but oh wow the grief he gets at work when he says he has to go do some child related life admin - he’s treated like a freak and I’m sure they think i’m a terrible wife and mother.
So, if we really want to tackle the loneliness problem, we need to prevent paid work from demanding so much of our time and energy that we can't (or simply don't want to) contribute to a shared project of care. Because that pressure is at the core of both loneliness and inequalities in care. 4/

I think the objections to Mike's point here illustrate just how bad humans are with big numbers. And it's not your fault; this is a hangover from the monkey-brain era earlier in our development, but let me explain why even smart people get defeated by big numbers.
