I am so incredibly thrilled to say that my book is coming out in January!

Shelter from the Storm is a deep, sprawling overview of the ways that climate change is creating a new era of human migration

The Post (me and @kcrowebasspro.bsky.social) analyzed the social media posts and appearances of prominent politicians across the country.

We found that no one is talking about climate change anymore. In 2025, mentions are 60% lower than in 2024.

dedicated AP reporting on some of the Venezuelans killed in US boat strikes basically comes to the conclusion that they were generally low-level guys in an impoverished part of a troubled country who, yes, occasionally moved cocaine

Everyone knows that US deportations have ramped up from within the country under Trump

What @ruizags.bsky.social makes clear in this new analysis is that this is the FIRST TIME IN A DECADE that more people have been deported from within the US than from at the border

Overall social media use is declining.

Between 2020 and 2024, more Americans — especially the youngest (18–24) and oldest (65+) — report using no social media at all.

A small group of heavy users remains, but the middle is thinning out.

Including looks at the insurance challenges compelling relocation, the tricky ways to order evacuations & the reality that many people are stuck in place
In case you missed it — I spent my last trimester working on this package for @heatmap.news on what happens after wildfires, from rebuilding to relocating. Grateful to all the survivors, hotshots, and fire experts who spoke to me for it, and proud of what came together!
