Attorney. Business owner. Guy who thinks this is all really really bad.
If you asked me in 2012 whether the primary organizing force behind opposition to the Republican party’s political project was going to be the Democratic Party or the Catholic Church, I would have guessed it would have been the Democratic Party.
We're now seeing a steady march of Catholic prelates with obvious backing from the Vatican saying hat it's time now to defund and liquidate ICE.

There is no doubt in my mind that Stephen Miller would die in pursuit of his vision for America. There’s no doubt in my mind that Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries would not. It is good to see 20 and 30 and 50 and 80 year olds arm in arm, staring death in the face and not flinching.
Minneapolis protester as he's being brutalized by feds: "You're gonna have to kill me! You're gonna have to kill me! I've done nothing wrong! My name is Matthew James! I'm a US citizen! You're gonna kill me! Is that what you want?" (You can hear his wife screaming)

Years from now, it'll be difficult to explain the things people in media were wailing about before all this. Sophomores writing underconsidered op-eds about cultural appropriation. Protests against demagogues on campus. YA drama. "Mobs" on Twitter. These were the threats to free society.

The immediate if unsavory thought I had when learning the details — nurses could end this all in a week.
I am seeing quite a few nurses calling for a nationwide strike over the killing of Alex Pretti. I think we are seeing one of the largest workforces being radicalized before our very eyes.

I think there's a gender element in this murder, too. In new vid, we see victim try to shield a much smaller woman a male ICE goon has violently knocked down. Goon enraged, focuses his attack on man shielding woman. As if enraged for showing up his masculinity, for revealing his hysteria.

Mother of god. It appears he gets pepper sprayed, then turns around and bear hugs a woman to protect her, with his back turned away from agents completely. Then six of them rip him away and execute him.
ANOTHER ANGLE: the original video was deleted but I screen capped it. Here it is.

We have to get rid of Jeffries and Schumer. We have to. It’s unendurable that these men are the most prominent Democrats of the moment. They are two of the most broadly undistinguished men I could imagine in politics, zero fire, zero fight, zero zeal, machine politicians with sinecures.

Outrageous beyond words. Not even an investigation? The people involved should die in jail, starting with Blanche himself.
BREAM: Is the FBI investigating the ICE agent who shot Renee Good?

BLANCHE: What happened has been reviewed by millions of Americans bc it was recorded. We investigate when it's appropriate. That is not the case here. We are not going to bow to pressure. So no, we are not investigating.

Any elected Democrat not fully committed to resistance at this point is a MAGA collaborator. So yes, they gotta go. History is screaming at us from the grave.
We have to get rid of Schumer and Jeffries.

This is about saving our country now.

They have to go.

This is the sort of statement that was expected from every university president and law firm partner over the last year. That those statements weren’t made played a huge part in where we are now and people will remember.
Jerome Powell: "This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions—or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation."

I’m sure this is naive, but we don’t know what act of defiance will start the cascade. Anyhoo, this one is notable because it’s the only time I can think of when a powerful figure stated plainly that the emperor has no clothes (and at a moment when Trump is particularly weak/overextended).

“Haven’t you learned that the President and the Vice President of the United States are ok with me executing you if I feel like it?”
A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

Since 2016, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the fact that we gave Donald Trump control of nuclear weapons. I still have this unshakeable feeling that that’s going to be a bigger part of this story before it all ends.
A long-deranged and deeply depraved man with a pronouncedly and acceleratingly deteriorating mind announces that he intends to play with the large arsenal of nuclear weapons he controls.

But it's okay, because he's not seeking a third term.

I hereby coin a Perlstein's law: when a movement flushes out a critical mass of never-before activists-- like the Christian Right and BLM both did--serious possibilities for change open up.

We shall overcome.

A genuine social moment, so new and spontaneous (though not without antecedents and seedbeds) it doesn't even yet have a theory or "ideology." Just: people doing....

What Chuck Schumer should do is fucking retire. Let someone who doesn’t need a nap after thinking up this sick post lead for a while.
What Trump said is a fucking outrage.

It’s against democracy.

If Donald Trump has his way on this, our democracy is over.

Donald Trump is too boring of a figure - the Professional Libertarians walking around ass naked like this is where the action is.
i think that if the FCC threatened to revoke ABC’s license unless it replaced Jimmy Kimmel with Kevin Hart to diversify the network, Ilya Shapiro would be able to identify the issue here
This really is the final expression of "libertarianism" as it is practiced in the US today.

The Republican Party as it is currently constituted will destroy the United States — politically, economically, socially and culturally. The democratic reform of our federal system isn't only justified in itself, but necessary to force its moderation into a party compatible with liberal democracy.
