With everything going on, the one time Congress asserts itself is in voiding some District of Columbia home rule tax policy? This is where they exert their power and prerogative? Not tariffs, declaring war, or acting to stop the erosion of their authority vis a vis the executive branch? SMFH

I am not religious but never has "love of money is the root of all evil" been so front and center. Greed in so many forms, actual money, and currency-like power and influence, we find even robber barons of yore are humbled. Unrestrained greed capitalism - can I call it evil? Blind eye make a buck.

If you commit an offense requiring a fine or incarceration and do your time, pay the fine, it should mean something. Otherwise, the lesson put out there is that there is no up side to abiding by the law, to paying the price, be it incarceration or fines, so why bother? That's what ICE is doing.

Tell your local governments to pass legislation, to prohibit the permitting of privately-owned buildings operating as detention centers. It is something localities have jurisdiction over. Make it hard for the bastards to set up mini-prisons in local office space.

Epstein files. The redaction process is flawed, and saying it's only .001% is gaslighting. It ignores the fact people illegally named are immediately and literally harmed and that harm should be the focus, not minimizing the errors to cover the shoddy process.
