I know this is a tired, cliched gripe these days, but if Biden had said something as remotely dumbass there would've been days upon days of stories about how he's too old and feeble to be in office.
Trump: "Like on tractors that can handle anything from hurricanes to lightning to anything. They use magnets. It's a new theory -- magnets. They're gonna lift the planes up. And it doesn't work."

Yes. Former Treasury and OMB officials explained to me in detail what sort of power Elon Musk has now been granted. They described it as akin to having his hands on a series of spigots that he can now turn on and off:

What???? Lawsuits please! (Cc @gtconway.bsky.social @noahbookbinder.bsky.social and everybody else)
The NTSB says it will no longer email news outlets or reporters with notifications of upcoming press conferences, including those on plane crashes in Washington and Philadelphia.

Instead, all notifications will be made on X.

We're filing a FOIA to find out more about the change in policy.

This is Orwellian (first time for me to ever invoke that term).

Trump administration is calling people in the country "unlawful" who are: immigrants who signed all the paperwork, entered the country legally, and have remained here documented and lawfully.

Social media is causing the collapse of Western democracies. It's as if #Russian or #Chinese propaganda planes are dropping leaflets with misinformation over our cities. Every single second.

our lazy, consolidated press loves to call the dismantling of essential cornerstones of a functioning society (consumer protection, labor rights, whatever) a "blow to democrats," even if the policy shift harms everyone and the reforms have broad, bipartisan support

If we weren't at such a weird moment in history, the collapse of Assad's regime would be widely understood as a huge success for the Biden administration, which pursued sanctions on Russia and Iran as well as Syria, armed Ukraine and thus weakened Russia, and supported Syrian democrats and activists
