John of many trades. Master of one (Super Mario Bros. 35, may it RIP). I like to write. I like to make (esoteric) jokes. I like many things. Video games, movies, books & charity. I like to make community. I like to talk about my Crohn’s & anxiety. Sometimes I like to rhyme — but not all of the time!

My current to-be-read pile is a little too high 😅

My reading slowed down the last year but my book collecting DID NOT. And then there’s me currently re-reading The Hobbit instead of tackling this.

Spider Man 3 somehow feels like it was released before Casino Royale in terms of cultural memory, rather than a year after it.

Hooked up the old Wii today. Wild to think that the console is now 20 years old!

Today I had two medical tests at the new NL Health Facility in the old Costco building.

They got rid of the double barrelled parking lines! How dare! That was some top-tier parking there.

Legit hate that for most of my adult-life with my Crohn’s I was doing life on hard mode, and still do it well, but the credit received is just about the same as easy mode

And now on extra-hard mode?Well I’m doing even less, yet sometimes fighting even more

Can’t win! All you can do is laugh or cry

My 2026 resolution is to just make it better than 2025. Too many illnesses active right now to commit to much else but I wanna at least commit to that!

To all of you, I wish you all a happy new year. May your 2026 be a great year and I’ll be cheering you on!

Done the first three seasons now and have begun to watch Buffy S4/Angel s1 interweaving. I’m obsessed. This has been my panacea this year.

I’m actually glad I slept on this so far in life because now I’m experiencing it all for the first time and it’s just downright incredible. Wow.
Besides a couple episodes for a university class, I have never watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer before.

Finished watching the first season last night and I totally see its lasting charm and why it’s been recommended to me every year for the last 20 years.

Looking forward to more!

This may be maybe the sickest I’ve felt on Christmas Day ever? And in 2020 I had a surgery two days before Christmas so that’s saying something

Haven’t entered bitter feelings yet but definitely a lil self-pity. But I am still taking joy in seeing others joy. Best I can do

For me, it’s a Restivus!

So not used to having long-covid yet even if it’s been eight months (only figured out what it was a month ago). Been resting most of the year so my pain/fatigue was only semi-bad. Pushing through Xmas stuff & I’m in so so bad rolling PEM.

It’s a bummer, things hurt, but Im learning. All I could do

Before I got really sick this year, I was all in on guitar and learning more than I have in my entire life. See this year-wrapped from ultimate guitar!

Since May I haven’t been able to play for more than 10 mins at a time without getting really sick

Hopefully more next year if I’m better!

What’s everyone’s favourite holiday films? Bonus points if you got one released from the last five years! 🎥🎄

Holiday spirit is ramping up, even if I have to remain horizontal for a lot of it!

Reading articles like this is slightly depressing but it’s actually way more validating.

This year I’ve felt like the laziest person on earth cause I can barely do anything without getting sick or near passing out.

Turns out, a lot of others with long-covid are very much the same!

Very bad PEM today with my long-covid from activities yesterday. Gonna take a while to get use to the advice of what to do during PEM is “don’t do anything! Maybe don’t even live! Stay perfectly still, now do that for 1-14 days.”
