Profoundly tired and discouraged after spending all day alternating between the news and trying to wrangle administrators to on-board me properly at one of my jobs. But then I remembered...

...its book club night! If you want to hang out on zoom and talk about Eleanor Davis' "Why Art?" tonight, lmk

Starting a new semester at one of my jobs tomorrow! Getting to teach comics is so great and my three hours of commuting means lots of audiobook time. I'm going to finish The Summer Book tomorrow and maybe start Age of Innocence.

Hey friends, my online shop (my primary income) was closed for the past month but I just finished a small website update and re-opened the shop!

I'm all done with preorders and my new book Testament is officially for sale! Plus fun holographic stickers!

One of the great joys of being a freelance artist and adjunct professor is having to navigate the self-employed health insurance obstacle course every year.

My birthday is this weekend and, as is my habit, here is a fresh profile pic for my next year of life.

I got rejected from a job I wasn't even sure I wanted and the disappointed was surprisingly piercing. I guess I let myself hope for something without realizing it. That's okay.

Trying to remind myself that what I really want is to be working on my next book anyway.

One of my favorite drawings from last year is the new Patreon print for January/February!

Looking at some behind the scenes sketches from Testament for a interview. I still love this drawing of Sister Judith

Updating the Big List and starting a new one with slightly more refined goals every year is my favorite part of new years.

Were 90s kids clamoring for a Batman cartoon with 1930s Art Deco aesthetics? Is that what the market demanded? Or did some really smart creative people have a vision and make a genre-defining hit that sustained 20 years of TV shows? If you want success look for vision, not just metrics.

there are some ppl who really disregard the opinions of non-creatives (which in some cases, i agree), but if it's something like readability of an image u really gotta listen to them lol. if even a child cannot distinguish your figure from the background u really gotta go back to the drawing board

Something from the sketchbook.

Feeling very grateful for the opportunity to travel for so many shows this year but the state of my savings, my road weariness, and lack of time to actually make art suggests I should cool it with the travel next year.

I know that I am supposed to be cool and aloof or whatever, but it really means a lot to me anytime someone writes to me to say they liked my book or includes it in some kind of end of year list. It is surreal and I'm so grateful anyone would read my work much less take the time to write to me.
