One way out.

VAN SUSTEREN: Is the Republican healthcare solution going to go into effect at midnight on Dec. 31? Because people are gonna get sticker shock

MIKE JOHNSON: We have November and December to work on it

Two things can be true:

The majority of voters will not remember how the shutdown was resolved.

The people who always vote in primaries, canvas for candidates and donate to campaigns will remember how the shutdown was resolved.

I want the shutdown to end. I want SNAP to be fully funded and I want federal employees to get the backpay they’ve earned.

But any CR passed by the Senate that requires House approval but that doesn’t include an extension of ACA subsidies puts House Dems in an incredibly shitty position.

The Roberts Court having to choose between defying their god king or taking food out of the hands of millions of children is some next level US series finale writing.

Either they weaken the unitary executive theory or turn expanding the Supreme Court into a moderate position.

AC/DC is great because their catalogue is mostly songs about either sex or murder and both types are used to pump up stadiums full of people at sporting events.

It won’t be long before there’s more GOP votes in the Senate for impeachment than getting rid of the filibuster.
Trump: "The way to do it for the Republicans is to terminate the filibuster. They call it the nuclear option. This is the second form of nuclear. This is a good form."

One thing I’m curious to see play out is Dem governed states fully funding SNAP while GOP governed states don’t. I can’t see how that doesn’t make the GOP look terrible and further ratchet up the pressure on them.
NEWS — The Oregon Department of Human Services has issued 100% of November SNAP benefits, per an alert on their website. I've received reports that the funds have already hit recipients' EBT accounts.

Saying that you easily have the power to end a shutdown you are actively ratcheting up the pain on, but also saying that you won’t end it because it will give your opposition some advantage in a distant future is a…choice.

My take on OpenAI is they are purposefully using a model that is capital intensive in order to increase the barriers of entry to potential competitors but haven’t thought about how doing so will result in competitors seeking out less capital intensive business models that are better long-term.

I told my employer last week I didn’t feel comfortable doing a cross country flight the second week of December due to the shutdown. I thought I was being paranoid but I’m feeling vindicated now.
Air traffic controllers warn of 'tipping point' as U.S. government shutdown drags on
The government shutdown is taking a growing toll on air traffic controllers who are working without pay. Staffing shortages led to big delays over the weekend, raising concerns about travel chaos.
