I think one of the worst quirks of online spaces is the idea that if someone doesn't post about something, they don't care about it. It encourages performative posting often makes things worse.

Nice piece by @ingridrobeyns.bsky.social on "team philosophy" as a collaborative endeavour in analogy to "team science". We've been trying to practice something similar in our GEOS project and while there are challenges everywhere, it actually made me love writing philosophy again. So worth it.

I've never been able to independently verify, but my dad tells a story about a newspaper getting its readers to send in the most egregious examples of unnecessary apostrophes they could find in the wild, and the winner was a sign in the window of a bakery that read "Delicious gateaux's"

Incredibly sad, short-sighted decision.

UNC System is getting $3.7 billion from the state budget. Here’s where the money is going.
The UNC System Board of Governors allocated $3.7 billion from the General Assembly. This includes investments in faculty salary increases, athletics and rural healthcare.
