It may have taken me five years, but I now have my Bachelor's in Environmental Science and Geography. My academic career isn't over, though, but I will be taking a bit of a break after this. I'm so tired!

Haven't been posting much since I've been way too occupied with finals and essays and projects. Thanksgiving break was chill, though.

Spent the last couple of weeks grinding DoorDash to pay for rent at the expense of academic performance and now I'll need to do exceptionally well if I want to graduate this semester. Considering how I already have a job that's not enough to financially support me on its own, everything just sucks.

the amount of academic research now using llms in research (synthetic data generation, to classify, annotate, or analyse large scale data, etc) is astounding. remember, just cus use of llms in research is becoming normalised does NOT erase the fact it degrades the research & undermine your results

50-year October snowfall trend for Alaska. Nearly everywhere shows a dramatic decline. October used to be the snowiest month of the year across much of the state. Now. October snow frequently falls as rain. @alaskawx.bsky.social

1.5C is dead.

And so-called ‘centrist’ politicians would rather we slide into fascism & authoritarianism than rebuild our world to give us a chance of surviving where we’re heading - because survival would mean dismantling the corporations that own these ‘centrist’ politicians.

Not all environmental issues should be seen through the lens of CO₂. While coral death could increase ocean CO₂ uptake—since calcification releases CO₂ and dissolution releases alkalinity and allows the ocean to take up CO₂—reefs are vital for biodiversity, food, coastal protection, and livelihoods.
Coral reefs are at a tipping point after surging global temperatures
Record-breaking ocean temperatures have caused widespread bleaching and death among warm-water corals, which could have far-reaching consequences
