Much of the cardboard and paper goods strewn about our homes are sold by a single private company, with its name, Uline, stamped on the bottom.

Many may not know that a multibillion-dollar fortune made on those ubiquitous products fuels far-right candidates across the country.

That Cardboard Box in Your Home Is Fueling Election Denial
A previously unreported boom in profits for the shipping supply giant Uline has provided the funds for a deeply conservative Midwestern family to bankroll anti-democracy causes around the country.

Good take by @ceclynch.bsky.social on the "reactionary offensive" & amnesty as a form of erasure. But must recall that "liberal democracy" hasn't worked for the growing numbers of non-unionized and gig workers filling the ranks of "reactionary populism"–so we must not idealize it either.

Anyway, here's an email I sent @UofCalifornia President Milliken and @UCBerkeley Chancellor Lyons, on their disgraceful decision to prematurely forward names to DOE for political harassment.

UC faculty, staff, students *systemwide* are in peril. Terrible, self-defeating choice.

Where is the doleful mourning of the punditry? In terms of magnitude, any which way they look at this, it exceeds any single tragedy by exactly thousands of levels.

For almost two centuries, the higher ed community has recognized that the presence of guns on campus inhibits the “practice of a responsible & critical mind.”

Guns rob faculty of the ability to ensure that the classroom remains the true & open marketplace of ideas at the core of academic freedom.
Legal Watch: Academic Freedom and Guns on Campus
The AAUP's recent joint amicus brief opposing the mandate that guns be permitted in college classrooms in Texas highlights a growing threat to faculty and academic freedom.
