I don't know what you call the phenomenon when public opinion/sentiment (i.e., the benefit of higher education Gallup poll) does NOT match quantitative data (i.e., Census earnings data) - but I wish I could spend the rest of my career figuring out how to get them into alignment.

Arkansas Football head coach Sam Pittman was fired on 9/28. The justification was he was losing too many “1-score games” (+/- 7pts). Since his firing, & the installation of interim HC Bobby Petrino, every game (except Auburn) has been a 1-score game (& all losses).

Sam Pittman was my favorite Razorbacks football coach. It’s painful to see my Alma Mater prioritize W’s over teaching young student athletes how to make hard decisions in the face of adversity. Sometimes the right decision doesn’t always work, but Arkansas made the wrong decision today.

If I worked in politics, I’d put my efforts into finding out what people who have not felt called to vote in recent elections want in a candidate…and then back candidates who appeal to that lot. There are FAR more non-voters out there we could be tapping into.

I feel like 90% of the posts on bsky only make sense if you’re *in* on it all. Like, you have to be *really* online to understand what some people are getting at… and that feels really problematic. Particularly for those of us who come here seeking news and info (rather than go to X). It’s clique-y.
