Anyone who reads my posts should see that I didn't only just notice this, but some replies are leftysplaining it to me!

They seem to be missing the context - my point is that this was after a furore at the BBC where the DG & News CEO resigned, ostensibly *for not dealing with left/liberal bias*...
Just watched Laura K's interviews with Mahmood, Philp & Davy on #BBCLauraK. Maybe it's my own bias, but she certainly seemed to me to interrupt Philp far less than the other two.

Liz Truss on Fox News supporting Trump suing the BBC

So her tax plans will be regressive. Quite on brand for this government.

I'm not surprised she's abandoned the "2 up, 2 down" plan that would have left employed income largely taxed the same - they seemed far too sensible to me.

Trump lying about what the BBC actually did is not a great way to start a legal action...

Most reasonable people with a functioning brain first raised concerns at the time of Gibbs' appointment and then concerns were consistently raised from then on, yet Nandy has noticed today??
NEW: Lisa Nandy to look again at political appointments to the BBC’s board as part of charter renewal discussions.

She said concerns have been raised over the appointment of Sir Robbie Gibb, a Conservative first appointed to the board by Boris Johnson.

The BBC wrongly defines impartiality as giving equal time to 2 sides of an argument, irrespective of their relative weights. So 99.9% of climate scientists are represented but the 0.1% of deniers are treated equally - same for Brexit.

Balance is not impartiality.

We need the BBC, but a better BBC.
People on the Left often complain about the BBC being too right wing, while people on the Right accuse it of left wing bias. Now, to me that says it must be fairly balanced.

And YES - I have a show on BBC Sounds. But this isn't about me, and I genuinely think it would be a tragedy to lose the BBC.

In an economy as unequal as ours, GDP is an even worse indicator of prosperity than it usually is. If the wealth of the super rich is increasing faster than GDP, then everyone else is effectively getting poorer. Deluded Neoliberal fools call this "freedom".

X is in clear + systemic breach of its legal duties in the UK to remove unlawful content from its platform.

Proof: when X users abuse + harass others with the racial slur "paki", X reporting system defends the racist abuse in more than 90% of cases reported.

A new thread documenting this.

This is such a good thread.
Revealing division in my timeline between (1) my insider friends who have lived privileged lives who are very keen that we defend the BBC and think it's important it survives and (2) my outsider friends who feel (at best) ambivalent about the BBC's survival.

No doubt Michael Prescott (no relation, thank God) is similarly shocked when Carol the Weather forecasts rain on BBC Breakfast and then fails to balance it with another forecast predicting a heatwave...
Michael Prescott was ‘“shocked” that after an hour-long Panorama documentary dealing with Trump and the January 6 insurgency, there was no “similar, balancing” programme about Kamala Harris.’

The departure of Tim Davie and Deborah Turness means the BBC is leaderless when it needs leadership more than ever. Where are the people at the head of the BBC standing up for it?

This morning anyone watching BBC news and uninitiated in the ways of the UK media establishment could legitimately think that Trump on Jan 6th was akin to MLK in the March on Washington and that Tim Davie resigned because he has failed to deal with left wing bias in BBC News output.

I shit you not.
