Serious Guys’ desire for approval has them support anything the neoliberal consensus demands: abolishing neutrality and embracing EU militarisation; financialising the housing market; basing our economy on the tax receipts of a handful of US corporations.

Conor Pope argues that an air-travel tax would be unfair.

We would like to remind him that the vast majority of people on Earth will never take a flight. It is a wealthy minority (read: us) who pollute, while others around the world bear the consequences.

So we ask: is that fair, Conor?

"[Opposition to aviation taxes] is not to downplay the existential crisis we face, or to deny the urgent need for more climate action." - Conor Pope @irishtimes.com Of course, he then *fails to offer a single alternative suggestion* to mitigate aviation emissions.😱

October in Ireland.
Apples from New Zealand.

Our food system is completely broken.
We could grow these ourselves, but instead, we ship them 18,000 km.

If we can’t grow and eat what’s in season here, how can we talk about food security?

I'm heart broken Ireland's national broadcaster stuck to same old 7 questions tonight on #áras25 presidential debate & avoided the climate question several of us begged them to ask. We learned nothing new of candidates' positions on major global/national challenges. RTE has failed the public.

I'm utterly gobsmacked at how much this article misrepresents our research and our position. This follows personal communication which should have clarified any of these misinterpretations.
John FitzGerald's @irishtimes.com article today grossly misrepresents scientists, science & economics
–No, scientists do not say "eliminate all cattle from our fields" [our?]
–Sci critiqued CCAC "climate neutrality" test
–CCAC's key scenarios also show deep methane cuts
– 🇮🇪 dairy is NOT "efficient"
"Because the agricultural sector makes almost nothing from beef, while milk is very profitable, such a change would not greatly affect farm incomes."

Really not worth it. He knows his game is over and so is resorting to personal attacks.

For the first time since 2006 the state has admitted it allowed munitions – onboard a US war plane authorised by Simon Harris to land at Shannon Airport – to travel through Irish territory on their way to Israel

Darragh O’Brien granted the exemption.

Good example of how 'lobbying' doesn't accurately describe the relationship between the Irish state & corporate interests.

In the meeting, the Dept of Def updated an arms industry lobby group on policy, & lobby group updated the Dept on industry needs & strategy.
