Lisa Nandy has said the BBC must remain independent, accountable, commanding public trust - and that it must reflect the whole of the UK, drive economic growth and be sustainably and fairly funded.

We agree. That's why we're calling for the BBC to be mutualised.

Great to be at Boundary Park yesterday for a really positive roundtable discussion about the next steps for the SportsTown project.

Plenty of work ahead, but the ambition is clear and the partnership is strong. 👏

And that working people voted for 🌹
MPs have PASSED the Employment Rights Bill AGAIN.

Now its over to the Lords to do the right thing - pass the Bill and deliver the new rights that working people are crying out for.

Great to meet with postmasters at Royton and Chadderton to discuss our shared ambition for the towns to be home to Banking Hubs.

All the banks have left, it’s important to rebuild these basic services back up.

People are demanding it. Our economy urgently needs it.

Proud to co-sponsor @yasminqureshimp.bsky.social's Bill which would give councils stronger powers to control excessive firework noise.

This is a real issue for many in Oldham West, Chadderton & Royton; they deserve action which cracks down on fireworks to keep them safe & respectful for everyone.

Social media and messaging platforms are currently significant enablers of harm and abuse against children.

The idea they could ever be trusted to self assess and police is ridiculous.
Not a single tech platform believes they are high risk for suicide or self-harm content, according to a bombshell Ofcom report.
Letting social media companies assess own harm went 'staggeringly' badly

Working people keep Britain running, but many are having to pay out of their own pocket just to do their jobs because HMRC’s mileage rate hasn’t changed in 15 years

Unison & the RAC called for a raise in the 45p a mile rate but the Tories did nothing
