Much of modern game design focuses on what I call “bounded games.” That is, games designed to evoke a precise experience, with rules that help ensure the players play the game the designer designed. Less room for interpretation, but sometimes better at creating specific thoughts and feelings.

My thought for today:

The vast majority of media created by humans is lost media.

Random movie history fact of the day.

In making the film Noah’s Ark (1928), the production team created a flood using over 600,000 gallons of water. Three people died. Many more were injured.

I was today years old when I learned the footage of the moon landing we’ve all seen is not the original! The original transmissions were compatible with television broadcast, so NASA had to play the footage on a big television and record it with a camera so the rest of the world could see it
two astronauts are standing on the moon next to an american flag .

This is the best news story I’ve read this year. Fifteen year old kid dresses up for a trip to a museum and ends up being cast as a dashing detective in memes.

Fedora man unmasked: Meet the teen behind the Louvre mystery photo
"I didn't want to say immediately it was me," fifteen-year-old Pedro Elias Garzon Delvaux said. "With this photo there is a mystery, so you have to make it last."

Over the years, there’s been a great deal of advocating for a rebalancing of power between GM and Players. That’s good!

No amount of rule writing, though, will transform a vindictive, asshole GM into a good, cooperative one. That’s beyond the ability of any ruleset.

“That wasn’t herb tea. That was Herb!”

Second best end of episode punchline in television history.

First was “As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!”

My latest rabbit hole obsession is lost media. If you’re part of that community, you’re doing good work. All media should be archived.

Watching Night Court (the original series). Four seasons in. The same two actors play nameless bailiffs with no lines guarding the back door in every episode.

Must have been an interesting gig.

Walking around NYC, I’m reminded that I hate the smell of both regular cigarettes and really cheap weed.

Thank you @cyberpunk.net for having Mike Pondsmith out for a visit at HQ and also PGA!

As we fly towards our own next releases like Night City 2045, we couldn't ask for a better team to work alongside!

Just finished watching Mike give an interview watched by thousands of people. It’s so interesting and odd to see someone I know primarily as a friend and boss transform into a celebrity right before my eyes.

Frieren and Restaurant to Another World have little in common beyond some genre tropes, but I love both because they explore concepts beyond the traditional adventure cycle in lovely and thoughtful ways.

I had fun making the cover of this month’s free DLC for Cyberpunk RED. The console at featured is by Adrian Marc. James Hutt wrote the article.

It would be amazing to see this hit 200% funded. Niche games with new world and systems, even from veteran studios, can be hard to get off the ground.
We are in the final week of the Shadow Scar Core Rulebook Kickstarter!

Fully funded, Cody Pondsmith's new game is now racing towards the finish line as we introduce the new Art Tier and a new add-on!

I may be the only one, but I enjoyed how Hitman (no subtitles) came out episodically. It encouraged me to really explore a level before moving on.

Please consider supporting our new game. It honestly has, in my opinion, the best stealth and assassination mechanics out of any game I’ve played.
Shadow Scar's Kickstarter has now flown past $20,000! We're now debuting a new, limited tier!

You can now have your own Shadow Scar character drawn by the Character Designer of the game, Dolan Pondsmith!

Got to admit, I’m a bit sad this is the entirety of the TTRPG section in the original Newbury Comics. It’s like being rejected by my own childhood. :p

@forbeck.com glad to see your work there!
