Kept hearing about how @councilorepg.bsky.social can lead but watching her sit silently while obvious racism was thrown at her District 2 colleague was disgusting and clear case of someone who cant lead for everyone. As a D2 resident, I demand she publicly apologizes to Kanal and steps down as prez.
The meeting ended without deciding the matter.
Two things stand out to me:
(1) Pirtle-Guiney should have denounced what Zimmerman did there but she didn't, presumably b/c it was in her interest not to;
(2) the longer this goes on, the clearer it is that Pirtle-Guiney's leadership has failed.

definitely not opposed to doing both, but to lay it out: ICE is just an agency populated by people, and in theory it could be populated by anyone to serve any purpose, whereas murderers and kidnappers should be in prison, plain and simple

Worth noting that Minnesota Public Radio is NOT doing that. They're interviewing people on the ground, chasing down witnesses and facts, and treating ICE statements with the appropriate amount of skepticism.
Sigh. The NPR national news brief at the top of the hour mentioned the shooting and simply cited the DHS statement.
I truly don't think mainstream journalists in the U.S are prepared to cover state violence
