After being a chronically online Twitter user for many years, it feels nice to come back to a community like this.

So hello! 👋

I am a public health social worker + certified health education specialist. I love to yap but mostly online.

BREAKING: We won!

Today the 3rd Circuit Court ordered the @post-gazette.com to restore our contract it illegally tore up 5 years ago. That’s our health care, PTO, right to a 40-hr. work week, short-term disability and so much more we’ve struck for 3+ years.

I will not be watching or reading any "analyses" about the Democratic party in D.C. I know all about them & their complicity. I'm not interested and I choose to reclaim my time and attention.

There're other kinds of politics to engage & most importantly to do (including in our local communities).

They’ll insist this is a
one-off victory — something that can only happen in New York & nowhere else.

They’re wrong.

New York is the world financial capital — home of Wall Street & billionaires from across the globe.

If everyday people can defeat oligarchs here, we can defeat oligarchy anywhere.

Every time one anti-vaxxer is quoted in the media, one million scientists and healthcare workers should also be quoted in support of vaccines.

False equivalence in the media is killing us.

mamdani is human. he'll fuck up and fail, especially with a hostile press and the giant mess that is nyc's politics. but today is a great day for the brave women who told what cuomo did, and for those of us who care that it should matter. that power shouldn't go to those who hurt the poweless.
I'm happy that Mamdani won. But I won't let that get in the way of my celebrating Cuomo losing.

so let’s not let them do that to akron public schools.

The Walton family (who own Walmart) are worth over $400 billion, yet many of their employees are on SNAP.

Bezos is worth over $400 billion, many Amazon employees require SNAP.

The people who need help are not the problem.

It’s corporate greed. It’s an unwillingness to pay a living wage.

a reminder as we enter the end of the year holiday season, your local thrift stores have a ton of decorations, gift wrapping, and cards!

you can save it from the landfill, save money, and not support corporate greed!

The depth of the shame of a country this wealthy and abundant allowing its people to go hungry is impossible to measure. The fact that a handful of people could fix this by paying their fair share of taxes while still remaining obscenely wealthy makes it even worse.

If approved, more than 12,000 baristas in 45 states and the District of Columbia could strike.

A lot of these red states are gerrymandered to the hilt as well. Republicans are making it almost impossible for people to vote their way out of this mess
Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”
