Media standards:

1) No Democratic scandal on par with Trump-Epstein, so it’d be biased and unfair to five it much attention.

2) Trump wouldn’t be shamed into resigning and his cult of personality wouldn’t abandon him, so Trump-Epstein wasn’t worth pursuing.

Way too many think that’s journalism.

“I didn’t see it” – mind you this man is in line for the presidency, right behind JD Vance.
MADELEINE DEAN: The president is unhinged. He's unwell

JOHNSON: A lot of folks on your side are too

D: Oh my god, please. That performance in front of the generals?

J: I didn't see it

D: It's so dangerous! Our allies are looking elsewhere. Our enemies are laughing. You have a POTUS who's unwell.

Since Trump took office I’ve cancelled:
❌ Facebook
❌ Insta
❌ Amazon
❌ NYT
❌ Game Pass
❌ Paramount+

Today:
❌ Hulu
❌ Disney+

Everyone’s situation is different, but for me it’s been surprisingly painless. It’s also freed up money to support independent media. Give it a try!

Anyway, that's why I'm an impatient asshole w/people lecturing all day, "Democrats and by that I mean electeds not me need to do messaging better this way," bc the way to make that happen is to ... do it. Or magnify other people doing it.

As per usual, Cuomo won't take no for an answer. Every elected Dem in New York needs to come out ASAP to reject this. You rally around the primary winner. Full stop. End of story. If Dems can't agree on that, the Party is a sham. Why would any primary loser behave differently in the future?
Breaking News: Andrew Cuomo is expected to announce a third-party run in the New York City mayoral race against Zohran Mamdani, who defeated him in the Democratic primary. https://trib.al/m6obCQX

My point here, as always, is to note (scream, at this point) that mindless doomerism is just lazy, sloppy thinking abt legit tricky issues.

It is its own form of copium, justifying doing nothing by wrapping itself in an unearned veneer of world-wearied cynicism.

Lots of people--LOTS OF PEOPLE--on the lefty side believe pushing lefty content is Not Their Job. That's Congress' job.

Instead they think THEIR job is whining that Congress is not doing that job--the job that, on the far right, is done by people like them.

I know that we are beyond caricature. But here is the richest man in the world, who bragged about feeding USAID to the wood chipper, showing moral feeling and apparently real empathy for a falling stock price.
Musk: I mean, have you Tim Walz, who is a huge jerk, running on stage with the Tesla stock price.. What an evil thing to do. What a creep, what a jerk. Like who derives joy from that?

If we make it to another presidential election, we must tax these people into oblivion.
Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos just emailed the paper's staff to announce a "change coming to our opinion pages."

A lot of people here who consider themselves progressive should take some time to decide whether they're going to spend the next four years picking niggling side fights and out-lefting the person one inch to their right, or making common cause against bigotry, cruelty, and authoritarianism.

Listen to the bosslady:
Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.
