The Museum of Fine Arts Arts in Montréal (Musée des Beaux Arts) has an exciting collection of art! These ones show costume beautifully and I really enjoy the way the paintings simulates different textures in the textiles

I thought I was going mad, but then realised a book I have, that was published in 2020, is exactly the same as a book by the same author, but with different titles and publishers, published in 2004. I can’t quite work out how they got away with that!

Historic dress can be an unreliable narrator of its own story & it takes the quest of looking to follow traces of its past. This dress was originally made in the 1830s, its silhouette testament to origins but stitch lines & shapes offer the mark of later, 1850s, alterations #augustaauctions 🗃️🪡
