Happy 50th Rolling Thunder anniversary! Here's my new interview with Roger McGuinn. We also discussed all his other work with Bob of course, from the Byrds to Tom Petty tours, Bobfest, and beyond.
(Plus I got to ask him about a wild video I watched dozens of times in high school)

Recorded this day, 1973: The opening date of a month long European tour for the Miles band (although this is the second of two concerts that day) finds them in inspired form. FM broadcast with boomy audio but essential listening!

Quality afternoon at the record store.
Local radio KGNU was broadcasting from the shop and asked if I’d like to play a track from my bag’. They weren’t ready for this heat.

My personal favorite tape of 71 + easily among the best of the electric era.
Ndugu wasn’t a great fit for this tour - Jarrett steamrolled him and he frequently missed Miles’ cues - but everything falls into place here for 90 glorious minutes. A magical gig.

Recorded this day, 1971: The Miles band's European tour arrives in Dietikon for two concerts. The late show finds the band completely transformed, hitting its stride magnificently. How this one was passed over for release is baffling- it's one of the great Miles shows!

Coincidentally, a few dates of this 12-night stand overlap with the electric band’s legendary 4-night Fillmore West run with the Dead 3 years later (4/9-12/1970)!

Sweet finale to our 2025 live activity last night in Denver. I was terrified to perform this synth-heavy jam in the company of Bitchin Bajas but it turned out alright!

Q: Who was the biggest influence on you crossing over in the 1st place?
--Sly Stone. Sly was the one who did it, it wasn't anybody in jazz.
Q: Did losing the regard of jazz's critical Establishment bother you?
--No. They get their records free anyway.

Dour morning on the mountain when a strip mall’s worth of well-loved local businesses goes up in flames.
I have no doubt the good freaks of Ned will step up for their neighbors, but damn this is rough.
