2026 Reading Challenges Update: January
I am participating in four challenges this year. Here is my monthly (and year-long cumulative) update. Note: If you would like to see what books I've read for the challenges, please friend or follow me on Goodreads! UPDATE: January started off decently. I finished nine books, and DNF'd one book. My daughter was home from college for the first three weeks of the month, and we spent a lot of time watching TV together rather than reading.

*BLACK journalists.
This isn’t about convicting Don Lemon. It’s unlikely that will happen. It’s about intimidating journalists & making them censure themselves out of fear of consequences. It’s about eroding the free press because the administration can’t afford the criticism.
This just in: "Don Lemon was taken into custody by federal agents last night in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy awards," Lemon's attorney Abbe Lowell says.

Arresting Black journalists is also vice signaling. Their base is racist and hates journalists and they want to get them excited again. The mainstream media industry has never protected Black journalists or journalists of color the way it should.

Enchanting the Fae Queen Author: Stephanie Burgis Publisher: Bramble Release Date: January 27, 2026 Series: Queens of Villainy #2 Genre: Fantasy Romance, Romantasy Excerpt: Chapter Five It was astonishing just how easily Lorelei’s mood could be uplifted by that look on Gerard de Moireul’s face. The amount of incredulity and outrage expressed by an infinitesimal widening of that man’s eyes and a single pulse of a blood vessel in the left side of his forehead was enough to set her up for days with delight.
