I don't know for certain that you can obtain a manual same-day postmark, but if you are sending a ballot or taxes, it is worth trying to get it marked in front of you. Anyone in the know, let me know if people can do this.
This graphic shows how the old way the post office postmarked items was to mark them as the day they were received. The new way is that items are postmarked the day they are processed, one to two days later. For critical deadlines like taxes and ballots, go to the USPS counter and request a manual postmark.

Where would you live:
I’m not a fan of humid+ hot, or flat. I prefer a mix of mountain, lake, ocean 😊
A map of the US states. Colors indicate where I would live. Green is absolutely, light green is willingly, beige is maybe, yellow is reluctantly, red is never. In my map, most f the southeast is red, the west and northeast are green and the middle of the country is a mix of beige and yellow.

Winter Solstice has been warm and wonderful in the Reynolds home. Last night we shared light and treats in community, and today we exchanged presents and shared a small feast as a couple. Looking forward to new beginnings as the light returns. Blessed Yule and Happy Solstice to all who celebrate!

I think the SFWA needs to address the misfire in the rules committee in the most strenuous way possible. That there was ever even discussion of allowing AI suggests they are wildly out of touch with their writers.
