Asking someone why they decided to become an atheist is like asking someone why they're a bigfoot skeptic. Belief in something that can't be proven is a choice. Not believing? Not a choice.

Considering how quickly a new pope needs to pick a name, it makes me wonder if all cardinals have the equivalent of a teenaged girl's diary where they write down potential future names and put hearts around them.

I'm a tall woman who is typically happy with her height, but sometimes being the only tall person in a photo shoots me right back to my insecure junior high self. I don't think most of us will ever fully get over the things we were made fun of for when we were younger.

I know some folks are panic buying now before the forecasted shortages arrive, but all we're doing that for is cat food. As a friend pointed out, the humans in her household can adapt, but the pets cannot.

I just ran across the phrase "a trophy single-family residence" in a $3m real-estate listing and threw up in my mouth a little. Housing should not be a fucking trophy. If you look at it that way, then maybe that's a sign that you should be donating more to charity.

English is weird and I have sympathy for anyone who tries to use it. Case in point: I had to explain to my German boss that "fasten" doesn't mean "to make faster". She said this is why she keeps me around.

She asked if I'd contacted my senators. I said my senators were Warren and Markey, so all I needed to say to them was "Thank you and keep fighting." This is why I put up with Massachusetts weather. 2/2

I was today years old when I finally realized why so many women's shoes that look cute in small sizes look awkward in large sizes. The heel never changes in either height or width. Both should change proportionately with the size of the shoe if it's not a flat shoe.
