That’s $500 million lost per day
Every $1 invested in SNAP generates $1.80 in local economic activity. Without SNAP, that will mean a loss of $15 billion to the US economy just in November alone.
Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

This started with that stupid birthday parade to normalize the sight of our war machines on American roads.
As anyone who lives in DC can tell you, most of these guys have been mobilized at taxpayer expense to stand around doing nothing all day. The only real point, as far as I can tell, is to normalize the sight of federal troops swarming over American cities.
Continued (mis)use of National Guard in DC for no purpose in the third week of a shutdown.
