I truly hope an enterprising reporter looks into who these “refugees” are from South Africa. The administration swears they’ve been vetted, but considering how much they lie, I’m skeptical. What’s their financial situations? And were they in danger in any way?

No, this is purposeful. They refer to SS as an entitlement and call these “loans” to plant the seed with the public that there are millions of scammers getting unearned benefits.
DOGE/Elon claim they found hundreds of millions in SS loans going to kids — but it’s an annuity to kids whose parents passed away.
