Giant Leopard #Moths, Hypercompe scribonia, were frequent visitors to the bug light this year. What looks like black markings from a distance, is revealed to be a rich iridescent blue upon closer look. Some have spots, and some have rings.

I’ve been thinking about getting a short scale bass guitar and a search for info led me to one of Jonathan Wong’s @drjonathanwong.bsky.social YouTube channels! I’ve been binging on his many amazing guitar videos. He’s so talented. Here’s the one that got me started youtu.be/BiLk3N_MCCE?...
This hits hard. One of those disasters happened in my county. As a member of the SAR team that provided evacuation support and post-flooding drone surveys, I saw firsthand the damage done. And it’s not over. Several log jams on Vallecito Creek are potentially deadly hazards.
