Martin Papworth is a G not as much as a GOAT as you though hey Miles!
In search of the Durotriges:

"I took my proposal to the university professors who said: ‘That’s all very well Martin, but did the Durotriges exist? You’ll need to try to prove it"

@durotrigesdig.bsky.social is crying in a corner (Miles how do you feel right now?)
Jon and Nick were also privileged enough to stand in the footsteps of many other admirers of the underfloor heating system, but don't tell @durotrigesdig.bsky.social #hypocaustgate

Still relevant and still as important as ever!!! (This is what I’m reading this month)

Sorry I’ve been off the earthly realm working on a Jane Austen project (I’m still frantically working on it) and celebrating my 21st with fairy rings and witches seats! Though a cool opportunity archaeology wise coming Monday!

Therapist: “Don’t worry Jem, Miles’ skeleton army can’t hurt you.”
Me: ‘then what’s this?!’

We love a blobby blob feature it’s only for those in the know that understand the importance of this 😅
Excavation has begun into the *big blobby blob feature* at the SW corner of the new trench at #Durotriges25

We don't know what it is yet

But it seems to contain a lot of struck flint 🤔

Officially a fan account for Miles and his #durotriges antics 😅😂

Found this this morning - piltdown man was mentioned in my first ever archaeology lecture and this was my introduction to the amazing Dr Russell. Such a fascinating case, I love it and was the first book I owned that was archaeology based!

This #hillfortswednesday I want to show the magnificent hill fort known as Badbury Rings! This needs more excavations done but it is a fascinating example of Iron Age Dorset and the #durotriges

Look how beautiful this is. This county has so many stories to tell!
An aerial photo, courtesy of Harry Manley and his magic drone, of the #Durotriges25 trench

Lots of archaeology (especially ditches) showing up cut into the natural white chalk geology

We've got lots to do!

Love a good hill fort Dorset wins for this always 😎💪
It's #HillfortsWednesday !

The ramparts of Abbotsbury Castle hillfort enclose a roughly triangular area of 1.8ha atop a limestone ridge overlooking the English Channel / La Manche on the Jurassic Coast here in #Dorset

You can tell I’m an archaeologist I keep digging holes for myself. Read politeness as politics now am researching politeness (I am out of my depths). I need to disappear to the #durotriges project 😅

Dorset day is every day and yes Stonehenge is overrated. To be fair think #durotriges is still better ✌️😎
It's #DorsetDay so in celebration we're resharing some news on the "Innovative ancient burial site found to be older than Stonehenge".

Archaeological research conducted on the prehistoric burial site known as Flagstones has revealed that it's the earliest known large circular enclosure in Britain.🧵

This: this is where I want to be ☺️
Zen and the art of topsoil clearance

Seeing archaeological features being exposed is actually quite relaxing

We could watch this all day

Petition to have a durotriges theme park in Dorset cos it’s an often forgotten part in the history of Dorset. Boo!! The Jurassic coast it’s over rated.

Today marks officially the last day I take archaeology. Of course I’m still going to be doing archaeology related things but it is bitter sweet. Archaeology will always be a part of me especially #durotriges #ironage and of course paganism and burial rites.
May 30, 2025 at 5:22 PM
Apparently when people say they have contacts they don’t mean name all your academics that you know really well annoy on the daily 🤣
