Bone bruises exist on the fracture spectrum, which is why they are so painful. Fifth metatarsal (below the pinky toe) has poor blood flow just in front of the bump you can feel on the side of your foot (Jones fracture). The rest has pretty good blood flow. Location will impact healing timeframe.
The Timberwolves say Terrence Shannon Jr. had an MRI that revealed a bone bruise on the fifth metatarsal on his left foot. He will be re-evaluated in a week.
