Librarian and therapist, trying to find ways to do both. I read a lot. Hike a lot. Dabble in everything else.
Oh, I'm adding that Climate Imagination to my list, too. Thanks!

Finished 12 books in January. Best was Fabric of Civilization.

I haven't found many Raleigh people here yet, but does anyone know if our "weather dome" has any science behind it? I've been watching storms skirt around this city for 20+ years now.

I need more, too. Especially a description of how the equipment on the back cover could possibly function.

We went to see them start their day on Saturday before the weather hit. A little girl gave me a flower because I helped her dad park. Keeping it forever!

Mutual Aid by Dean Spade is free on Libro for the next week (until 2/2).

We know that books can't fix everything, but they can help us show up for and strengthen our communities. Our employee book club read this last year, leading to a great discussion. We hope that it helps others do the same 💗 ⏬

I've requested that my library look into switching to the Palace App from Lyrasis. I'm guessing that would be a costly transition, but worth a look. It appears to give users a lot more control and won't be delivering user data to Palantir.
Libby is supposedly a library app but it doesn't have any of the values of a library (I adore libraries, they are manifestations of a #solarpunk future).

Libby is an enshittified tech corp who bought a library app. "Libby and its parent company, OverDrive, are owned by the private equity firm KKR."
Our official policy provides clarity on our AI usage and the broader impact of AI on the book industry as a whole. Read OverDrive's full policy here: https://bit.ly/4be33jB

Good job, Seattle! I'm still waiting for a response from Wake County Libraries in Raleigh.

The Mind Reels by Fredrik deBoer. Not sure I'm enjoying it.

I think you should read Where Peace Is Lost by Valerie Valdes.

I think it's a good book to read right about now, and not enough of you have read it.
