Something to be aware of here in Canada — our new PM is in lockstep with the Trumpian authoritarian playbook. This is not okay.
Rent is high. Groceries are impossible. But instead of taxing billionaires, the govt is pushing Bill C-12 to deport workers.

Syed Hussan explains how migrant blaming is a strategy to distract us.

Stop Bill C-12. Stop the scapegoating:

Last month, my father died.

Growing up with him we played video games and chess, listened to music, and watched countless movies and TV shows. He had a knack for finding diamonds in the rough when it came to media, and I'm grateful for (that part of) his influence on my life.

#Arboreality by Rebecca Campbell of whereishere.ca has softly changed my life.

I've spent >10 years learning about climate change, regenerative land management, and what awaits civilization as we know it, and this book helped me feel seen.

Wildly depressing, but I can't recommend it enough. ❤️

Happy belated Earth Day, everyone.

This is Loudon Park in #Nanaimo BC, and we're encouraging the @cityofnanaimo.bsky.social reconsider their plan to cut down these beautiful ~80 year old fir trees.

Thanks so much to everyone who came out for the invasive species cleanup this past Saturday!

We got two massive piles of Ivy, Daphne, and an entire Holly tree off the land, making more room for the native understory to establish and thrive. ✨

Nope nope nope. @bsky.app , this is NOT what people are flocking to you for. Please read the room — so many of us are trying to get away from obligatory data mining, tech bros and biased AI enforcement.
Ensuring user safety at scale takes massive resources. That’s why we’re excited to partner with ROOST—helping smaller orgs enhance safety, meet regulations, and compete. More safety, more competition, more user choice.

This was a #landscape-design from 2024, and the one that earned us our #permaculture certification.

The clients had an exposed site, mostly turf, and wanted a more naturalist, cottage garden aesthetic. We recommended a small #orchard bolstered by #native #berries and #wildflowers.

Close-up #Photo of a frozen sewer grate after a thaw and refreeze here in #Nanaimo, #BC. It reminds me of some alien, sci-fi landscape. ❤️

The client needed a border bed revamp after discovering how existing plants were #toxic for their #dogs.

We filled the space with #Saskatoon, Oval-leaf #Blueberry, Evergreen #Huckleberry, Coastal #Strawberry, #Kinnikinnick, Blackcap #Raspberry, #ferns, and #native #wildflowers. ♥

"Blackwood Commons" was a 2021 #concept #design for a #park in #victoria #bc responding to the sudden need for more beautiful public meeting spaces.

The project never broke ground, but received praise from collaborators, neighbours and city staffers. It's one we're still proud of.
