Simple #design changes in EHR alerts, like presenting two or three good options instead of just one, could help #doctors provide #bettercare. But if these systems rely on outdated evidence, they risk doing more harm than good.

Just in time for the @pennchibe.bsky.social meeting, a new paper with @gemmaaltinger.bsky.social in @jamanetworkopen.com.

We found that offering physicians MORE alternatives encouraged them to select one of the alternates.

I met a friend at the Omni Hotel on the "Miracle Mile Shopping Center" this morning on the way to work.

It was horrible.

A snowy morning. The people going to work. The Christmas lights. Shoppers. Tourists.

From @jama.com: Among people with PAD and no #diabetes, metformin treatment for 6 months did not result in improvements in walking ability or secondary outcomes vs placebo.

One of the things I really liked about S2 of “Andor” was how few Imperial Stormtroopers there were.

Lucas put them in masks for two reasons, IMHO: 1) it made them terrifying, their inhuman faces frozen in frowns, with no pity, feeling, etc. Echo of his enforcer robots in THX-1138.

Another update: Northwestern University has still not received any funds from NIH since March 26, 2025.

We still have not received written communication stating that the funds are frozen, the reason why, or what can be done to restore it.

A colleague just heard that two NIH grant proposals -- totally aligned with addressing chronic disease -- one with a 4th percentile and one with a 1st percentile score, will likely not be funded.

See rationale in the image.

This does not seem like "radical transparency."

RFK Jr. rolled out that old chestnut again about how healthy Americans were in the 60’s, so here’s a fact check.

In 1965:

-42% of American adults smoked; it’s 11% now.

-The infant morality rate was 24.7/1000; it’s 5.6/1000 now.

-Overall life expectancy was 70 years; it's about 77 years now.

Microdosing without evidence is a bad idea. Here are a few reasons why👇🏻
